Summer is in full swing here at the Flutie Foundation. We have just come off the heels of a fantastic Golf Tournament and are ready for a little camp style R & R! Attending a summer camp or day camp may be out of reach for your family this year, but sending your child to a day camp, overnight camp or attending a family camp can yield benefits that will last all year and will create lifelong memories.

Attending a day camp can help your child develop important social skills and independence. As parents we all want to see our children succeed. It can be hard to send our children into social situations that may be difficult for them, but with the right partners, challenging our children to do new things can become a great step in growing their independence.

Flutie Foundation partners with Camp I Can in San Diego California, to provide a fun, safe environment for kids to grow in independence and have fun. Day Campers get to experience all the fun of camp, while still being able to come home each night. Activities include trips to the beach, Legoland, pool time, crafts and games. Each camper is evaluated for their needs and is provided a high level of experienced, knowledgeable supervision to ensure the experience is positive.

Families can create precious memories while being supported by quality camp staff members and other families striving to live life to the fullest.  Camping has a long tradition of being the favorite vacation of American families since early days of the National Park System. Your family can be part of this storied history through participation at Camp WANNAGOAGAIN’s family camps. Return year after year to connect with favorite staff members and family friends. Camp WANNAGOAGAIN goes above and beyond to ensure your family has an incredible time with low camper to counselor ratios, sensory based activities to support all levels of communication, structured teaching methods and daily routines and opportunities for parents to truly unwind and relax. Each camp session is two weeks long – plenty of time to make lifetime friends and memories!

Learn confidence and build character through water sports. In an AccessSport America sports camp, your child can learn valuable water and safety skills that will build their character and confidence. Campers can learn adaptive windsurfing, Hawaiian Outrigger Canoeing, Kayaking, stand-up paddling, surfing, and tennis depending on the camp they decide to attend. These camps are designed to help campers achieve their highest physical and athletic potential, and, the thrill of mastering a skill that a child has worked long and hard to learn is priceless.

Encourage your kids to apply their newfound confidence in the school year and beyond. TREK (Teaching, Reaching and Experiencing with Kids) offers after school and winter programming as well  summer camps. Your child can participate in ropes courses, mini-biking, snowboarding and rock climbing – in addition to many other challenging, fun activities.

What is your family’s favorite way to spend the summer? We want to know your favorite camps and activities. Share with us in the comments!
